*"Back when he was trading secondary players rather than franchise players, Billy King was part of a four-team trade in July 2003, involving Philadelphia, Atlanta, Minnesota and New York. King surrendered the Sixers' 2007 first-round pick to the Hawks, provided the pick is not in the top 15. If the pick does end up being in the top 15, Philadelphia keeps it and must make a $1 million payment to Golden State (which acquired the rights to the pick from Atlanta through Dallas) that extinguishes the obligation for a first-round pick." - ESPN

(NbaDraftPress.com)

1. Memphis- Greg Oden C Ohio St. Fr.
- Oden is the LeBron James of the ’07 draft. Regardless of who wins the draft lottery and barring any major setbacks his freshman year with the Buckeyes, Oden will be the consensus number one pick. He is the best center prospect to enter the draft since Tim Duncan was picked first overall in ’97.

2. Philadelphia- Kevin Durant F Texas Fr.
- Heading into this season, the word on Durant was that he was loaded with potential. He’s certainly lived up to that billing. For a 6-9 guy, Durant has all the intangibles to become a star in the league. He could be the closest thing the NBA has seen to Kevin Garnett. He’s an amazing athlete and a great shooter for his height, but Durant must add a lot of muscle and some toughness if he has hopes of becoming the next KG.

3. Charlotte- Brandan Wright PF North Carolina Fr.
- Wright is a high-percentage shooter who makes a living around the rim. His early play in his first season in Tar Heel-land has his stock soaring. He can score, rebound, and block shots and his athletic ability make him hard not to like. Added strength will be needed to bang down low in the NBA.

4. Phoenix (from Atlanta)- Joakim Noah PF Florida Jr.
- Noah’s stock was through the roof after Florida won the national title, but he decided to bring his goofy hair and chest pounding back to Gainesville for his junior season. He likely would have been the number one pick in the ’06 draft, but slides in ’07 behind more complete big men. Regardless, he brings his defensive prowess and athleticism to wherever he goes.

5. Seattle- Julian Wright SF Kansas So.
- Loaded with athleticism, Wright could be something special. He handles the ball well for his size, plays solid defense, and has a knack for attacking the rim. With that said, Wright has not shown much in terms of a three-point shot and is still an inconsistent mid-range shooter.

6. Chicago (via New York)- Chase Budinger SG Arizona Fr.
- Arizona head coach Lute Olson has raved about Budinger, and for a good reason. He is a former high school volleyball stand-out, and at 6-8, he is a tremendous athlete with some crazy up. He does just about everything on the court well and has shown he can rebound the basketball in his early weeks at Arizona.

7. Boston- Hasheem Thabeet C UConn Fr.
- If Saer Sene can go tenth overall in the ’06 draft, NBA general managers should be drooling over Thabeet. He has been a block shot and rebounding machine so far at UConn, but has shown little on the offensive end as his game is still raw. He still needs to get a little bigger but with size being in demand in the NBA, he’ll be a hot commodity come draft day.

8. New Jersey- Daequan Cook SG Ohio State Fr.
- The Buckeyes sixth man, Cook is an offensive weapon who leads his team in scoring. He can knock down the jumper, runs the break well, and is attacks the hoop with authority. A negative is that is he too offensive-minded at times and tends to force shots. He has good strength for his age and uses that trait to crash the boards.

9. New Orleans- Marcus Williams SG/SF Arizona So.
- In a draft class loaded with size, Williams is one of the more talented wing players. He can shoot from anywhere in the gym, including a mid range game which seems to be a lost art in the NBA, and also finishes strong around the rim. For some reason though, Williams struggles at the free throw line.

10. L.A. Clippers- Al Horford PF Florida Jr.
- Horford is physically gifted, and a strong rebounder and defender. Returning to school made sense since his offensive work needs some grooming. He is not going to be an outstanding scorer in the pros, but his aggressive and physical play would be a welcomed addition to any team.

11. Sacramento- Javaris Crittenton PG Georgia Tech Fr.
- The 6-5 Crittenton is very athletic and a great playmaker who has made an immediate impact at Georgia Tech. He shoots the ball well and his size makes him an intriguing point guard prospect. He must take better care of the ball before heading to the pros.

12. Portland- Yi Jianlian PF China 1987
- Yi isn’t exactly the second coming of Yao, but he’s an interesting foreign prospect. He has a lot of athleticism and explosiveness for a seven-footer. He’s shown good development in China and has played well against Americans in international battle. Yi relies on his leaping ability on the boards, but will need to become more physical to be a successful power forward in the NBA.

13. Minnesota- Thaddeus Young SF Georgia Tech Fr.
- The gifts are there; athleticism, quickness, explosiveness. Young has been a nice addition at Georgia Tech, but has not been spectacular. His stock has dropped a bit, but he still has enough interest to be a lottery pick if he turns pro.

14. Miami- Marco Belinelli SG Italy 1986
- Belinelli is the typical European guard. He can shoot from anywhere on the floor, has great court vision, and plays either guard position. But like most Europeans making the transition to the NBA, Belinelli will need to become more physical and more aggressive taking the ball to the hoop. It will take him a year or two to develop his NBA game.

15. Toronto- Nick Young SG USC Jr.
- Young has the ability to play either wing position and has developed into a go-to scorer at USC. He is also very aggressive crashing the boards. Shoots a high percentage from the floor, but is not a consistent three-point threat.

16. Milwaukee- Tyler Hansbrough PF North Carolina So.
- Hansbrough had an amazing freshman season at UNC, shooting 57% from the floor and has continued to play at a high level during his sophomore season. He is a physical inside player who can get to the rim and is also able to knock down the mid-range jumper. At 6-9, he is a little undersized for a power forward but is not athletic enough to play the three. Regardless of his size, the kid knows how to play the game and do so at a high energy.

17. Golden State- Luc Richard Mbah a Moute SF UCLA Jr.
- Mbah a Moute has carried over his impressive play from the NCAA tournament and has been solid for the Bruins this season. He continues to have a knack for crashing the boards. Besides attacking the hoop, his offensive game is still raw as he must develop a more consistent outside game because he is not a real threat to hit the triple.

18. Atlanta (from Indiana)- Ronald Steele PG Alabama Jr.
-For the second straight season, the point guard prospects in ’07 are down. Steele will most likely be one of the first point guards taken. He is a great floor leader and makes mature decisions. For a point guard, he also knocks down the deep ball on a consistent basis.

19. Washington- Jeff Green SF Georgetown Jr.
- Green showed great promise during his sophomore year with the Hoyas, but has not elevated his game during his junior season. He can play facing the hoop or with his back to the basket, and does just about everything well on the floor. Foul trouble has plagued him this season and his three-point shooting has been cold.

20. Philadelphia (from Denver)- Nick Fazekas PF Nevada Sr.
- Fazekas has played his way into the first round. He is a scorer, a shooter, and a rebounder. The knock against Fazekas is that he does not play against a high quality of big men in the WAC and is not very mobile. His inside/outside game is strong enough to neutralize his lack of athleticism.

21. Phoenix (from Cleveland)- Tiago Splitter PF Brazil
- Probably made a very smart decision by choosing to pull his name out of the draft the past three years and develop his game in Europe. Unlike most foreign prospects that enter the league, Splitter has the ability to make an immediate impact. He has added size in Europe and saw big minutes on one of the better teams in Spain.

22. Detroit (from Orlando)- Aaron Gray C Pitt Sr.
- Gray is a true center and a double-double machine at Pitt. He isn’t going to wow anyone with his mobility or athleticism, but he plays hard, rebounds well, and is a good passer out of the post. He needs to work on his shot as he is limited in range and is a below average free throw shooter.

23. Houston- Al Thornton F Florida St. Sr.
- His 28 point, 9 rebound performance in the Seminoles upset win against Florida did wonders for his stock. Thornton is a high energy guy who plays well around the rim, but is not a great shooter. At 6-8, he is a tweener at the forward spot which usually hurts a player’s draft stock (ask Hakim Warrick).

24. New York (from Chicago)- Alando Tucker SF Wisconsin Sr.
- Tucker is an athletic, aggressive swing player who has turned into a national player of the year candidate. He excels at taking the ball to the rim and is a strong finisher. He creates his own shot off the dribble, but is not a great long range shooter.

25. L.A. Lakers- Brandon Rush SG Kansas So.
- His biggest asset is his ability to shoot at a high-percentage, but has a solid all-around offensive game. At 6-7, would also be able to play the three spot in the NBA. Despite being only a sophomore, will be almost 22 years old come draft day which makes his future potential a little less promising than younger players at his position.

26. Detroit- Acie Law PG Texas A&M Sr.
- Law has a knack for scoring. He’s a bit of a combo guard because of his ability to score from the two, but he’s not the greatest floor leader. His size is more suitable for the point guard spot in the NBA which means he’ll need to prove he can run an offense. Law loves to attack the hoop and has shown more consistency with his outside shot.

27. Utah- Roy Hibbert C Georgetown Jr.
- Hibbert’s game is limited to around the hoop, but at 7-2, his size will be attractive to NBA general managers. For his height, he has a nice touch around the basket and is a better shooter than most bigs. He is not a stiff, but definitely lacks quickness and athleticism.

28. Phoenix- Jason Smith PF Colorado St. Jr.
- For a seven-footer, Smith is better facing the hoop than with his back to the basket. He has a nice first step and the ability to hit the mid-range jumper. He is not very physical or intimidating for a big man which is why power forward is more his natural position. His tendency to struggle against bigger opponents keeps him at the end of the first round.

29. Philadelphia (from Denver)- Aaron Afflalo SG UCLA Jr.
- Afflalo is a go-to scorer. He can shoot from anywhere on the floor, and can also attack the basket. Is not a tremendous athlete and needs to add some strength. Afflalo has become a better decision maker with the ball.

30. San Antonio- D.J. White PF Jr. Indiana
- Hampered by injuries in ’05-’06, White suffered a slight setback for getting to the next level, but has shown no regression this season. He is a physical player who can make an impact on the defensive end. His strength makes up for his lack of ideal height for a NBA power forward.

Very nice. Lets hope the Knicks don't make the playoffs. That would mean we would get either 15-16th pick in the draft. Deep draft, but obviously the earlier the better.

Obviously not the player Wade is, but now the Knicks have lost Crawford, so we'll see how much that hurts them.

ESPN Mock Draft 2007 Simulation

Postby bullsger on Sun Apr 22, 2007 1:31 am

Hey...that would be nice. Really my first time to simulate this.

But the 9th or 10th pick is realistic.
