Ben Gordon has his flaws, but so does every player on this team. He's still a little turnover happy, and his ball handling can be shaky at times. But he's improved a lot so far in his short NBA career. So I see no reason why those things won't get better. This is only his 3rd NBA season, I think some people see the Lebron's and Wade's coming in and being stars right away, and then they expect that from every player. It takes time for players to develop and get better.
His shot selection is not horrible like you seem to think, if it was Skiles would yank him. He doesn't really take any horrible shots, unless were down big and the only thing we resort to is letting Ben try to save us. Most of his shots come within Skiles' crappy offense. Even then, Ben's scoring efficiently this year; 46% from the field and 40% from 3. He's scoring 1.36 points per shot, which ranks him 31st in the league. He's also been attacking the rim more this year, and he's 15th in the NBA in free throws made.
What's your definition of a "go to" scorer? Because, in my opinion, Ben is a go to scorer, and one of the best clutch players in the league. Even if our idiot coach doesn't realize that.
If we're trading for KG, I wouldn't have a problem giving up any one of our players. But I know that if we're getting KG the one guy I'd want to keep is Gordon. Because what good is KG if we have no one to score when the game is on the line. KG is not a go to guy because it's easy to deny him the ball. That's why he needed a guy like Cassell to be successful.
