By KC Johnson (Chicago Tribune)Saturday didn't just mark Kirk Hinrich's first start this season. It also represented the first time the veteran guard sank three 3-pointers in one game.
Coincidence? Hinrich thinks not.
"Starting helps my aggressiveness offensively," Hinrich said. "But now I have to build on it. I've had good offensive games in the past and not built on it."
Hinrich played close to 36 minutes and said his conditioning is fine to handle coach Vinny Del Negro's move to sit Hinrich briefly for John Salmons, then replace Derrick Rose with Hinrich.
Even better is when Rose and Hinrich played together.
"Kirk takes pressure off Derrick because it's another guy who can handle the ball and make plays in the open court," Del Negro said. "We have to start working on kicking it up to Kirk and Derrick and playing more of a pace game."
