Chicago Bulls open camp today

Today the training camp of the Chicago Bulls opens.

Let us take a look...

5 questios from the Tribune

1. How much will the loss of Gordon affect the Bulls?

2. Is Deng healthy?

3. How much better can Rose be?

4. What can fans expect from Vinny Del Negro?

5. Who's the starting power forward?

1.
I think that the loss of Gordon will affect the Bulls, but not so much as many people are thinking. Bulls will miss his hot scoring streaks, but wouldn't miss his sometimes strange shooting.

The Bulls maintain that with a renewed commitment at the defensive end and John Salmons sliding into Gordon's vacated shooting guard slot,

2.

I really hope that he is 100% healthy and will stay healthy throughout the season. Deng is a good player at full health. So the Bulls will benefit from a healthy Deng.

But even Deng knows until he begins playing at game speed, against real competition, day after day, nobody can predict what will happen.

3.

I believe that Rose will take a jump foward, but don't know how big this jump will be. I hope big!
At the summer there were stories that his shooting is really improved. That would be good.

Rose has worked out religiously, mostly in Los Angeles with trainer Rob McClanaghan, and has added muscle in his upper torso. He looked focused, composed and more outgoing during an appearance at his local basketball camp in August.

Rose has told associates he hopes to be more assertive at the defensive end and with his leadership this season.

4.

Last year was his first coaching year in the NBA. So he had to learn very much and I think that he really learned much. Don't expect many games in that the Bulls have no timeouts left. :man12:

5.

At the moment it is Tyrus Thomas for me. All that I heard that he worked hard this summer. This could change if the Bulls perhaps find a way to aquire Boozer. But I don't believe they will, at least until February.

Thomas finished last season strong and is eager to take a next step in 2009-10 -- just like the Bulls.
Rose: "I want to be that guy. I want to be the reason why the Bulls are back to what they were [during the Michael Jordan era]."
