SACRAMENTO, Calif. -- The worst part about the Chicago Bulls' annual circus trip is that they are the ones that always seem to come home looking like clowns.

Since 1999 (a.k.a the year after Michael Jordan's retirement), the team has struggled mightily on its annual road trip, going 9-56, according to the ESPN Stats and Analysis team.

I blame alot these struggles on VDN's lack of offensive sets and defensive schemes, poor rotations and lineups and minute distribution. Unable to properly utilize the talent he has available and unable to come up with defensive or offensive schemes that utilize our talents and hide our weaknesses. As well as a lack of a consistent scorer who can hold his own at the 2 guard position.

VDN is basically a cheerleader and all he can teach and preach is to attack and move the ball which is great but not enough. He says all the time every time with an emphasis on effort which is only part of the equation to winning basketball games especially at this level!

We need to fire VDN or place him as an assistant and get a REAL coach who can instill a offense that allows the Bulls to run and function in a half court set. As well as teach and preach TEAM defense.

A coach who knows when to put in or pull out players. How to utilize talent and properly distribute minutes as well as use line ups that will give us the best advantage on match ups!! Then and only then will the Bulls break from the middle of the pack.

Thank you its good to be amongst other Bulls fans again... it seems Bulls.com form is no more... I wonder how many other teams dont have a fan forum on their site...

But anyway as far as a coach goes i really like Avery Johnson because he is a defense first coach and he understands the importance of moving the ball and is a decent X and O coach, as far as i know.

Next would probably be Doug Collins mostly because he has experience and was a Bulls coach before and was willing to coach the team before Reinsdork ruined the negotiation.

Mike Fratello I would probably take over Doug Collins actually but the true ideal coach would be Larry Brown. He would be the perfect fit for this team if only he were available...

Doug Collins? I think that the Bulls have their reason not to sign him in the summer 2008.

Johnson is a good coach. Why do you think that Larry Brown would be ideal coach? He wasn't so successful the last few years.

Well there are many factors that make a team successful. But the Top two factors would talented players and a good coach.

Larry Brown has been successful with most of the teams he's coached. The thing is he's a nomad...builds a team up and then leaves to build up another team. He a hall fame coach with many miles and a very impressive resume. The game plan he taught the 2004 detroit Pistons changed the way basketball was played in the NBA. Going from getting the ball to your superstar and letting him create his own shot while the others stand and watch, with a emphasis on player vs player match ups. Too moving the ball, good player movement, cuts and pick and pops, pick and rolls, attacking and kicking out and getting all 5 players on the court involved. Is much more common then it was in years past thanks to the success of the 2004 Pistons team who upset the star laden Lakers with 4 hall of fame players and a (traitor) Halll fame coach in Phil.

The Bulls are still fairly young team overall and young players need guidance from a coach who commands respect and has many years of coaching experience. Bulls also need to run offensive sets and play better team defense and this is what Larry Brown teaches and preaches.

You say Larry hasnt done well as of late that goes back to having talented players and talent players who BUY in to what the coach is teaching and preaching. Besides Even Phil Jackson Laker squad has faced failures most memorable was the first round ousting by the Phoenix Suns.

The question is....Is Reinsdork willing to dole out the money to lure Larry here? Wouldnt count on it...

Don't expect this, too.

Bulls Blog Sam Smith

So the Bulls finish their so called “circus” trip 1-5 and now 6-9 on the season and getting into dangerous territory of falling too far back in the Eastern Conference.

“You read my mind,” said Derrick Rose, who had 17 of his 19 points after halftime and won the matchup with Bucks prized rookie Brandon Jennings. “I know how hard it is from last year to get back to .500. We’ve got to take advantage. This was a game we were supposed to win and we let it slip.”

[...]

“I have to do a better job of guarding my player,” said Joakim Noah, who had 16 points and 17 rebounds. “I feel the bigs are getting their way offensively with us. I have to play better post defense. My post defense is suspect right now.”

[...]

The larger issue, to me, has been this passive offense that comes out exploring too many soft, side to side pick and rolls on top of the floor where the defense can easily set up and deny Rose. Rose, first of all, is likely much better without screeners bringing big men to him, and now that he seems healthy I get the sense he’s getting fed up standing around waiting for things to happen.

His alert second half seemed like a sign, including three straight scores early in the fourth quarter to give the Bulls a lead for the first time since the first minute of the game.

“I have to step it up (earlier), find a way,” said Rose, who my sense is has been put in a position this season to be passive more than he prefers. “Being a point guard you try to get the feel for the game. That’s the way I play. Then I step it up. Now I’ve got to step it up from the beginning. We let them get momentum too early

“It was a flashback,” Rose said about the second half. “I was like an old (Derrick) again. This was a game you were supposed to go from the beginning of the game. But we didn’t start that way. I see now I’m just going to start out.”

Run Derrick run.

See Derrick run

It’s time.

Yes, it's time for Rose to take a step foward. Bulls need to make their game faster.

Go for a win wednesday at home against the Pistons.

I think that the Bulls are closer to your wish now. The losses against Raptors and Nets are bad.
