Coaching change doesn't appear imminent

I’m hearing that a coaching change is not imminent. That’s not to say it won’t happen next week. But Del Negro appears safe for now.

There are a variety of issues going on with the Bulls: The injuries, a tough opening schedule, persistent slumps by veterans Brad Miller, John Salmons and Jannero Pargo.

Looking at the big picture, it’s really the last two games when things started to go alarmingly bad. After losing to Cleveland, it looked like the Bulls had a chance to right the ship quickly with a spate of home games on the horizon. Beat Toronto and New Jersey at home and the Bulls would have been 9-10 right now and no one would be thinking about how much time Del Negro had to spend on the bench.

Wednesday’s game at Atlanta looks like a sure loser, considering the Hawks haven’t played since Saturday and the shorthanded Bulls are having trouble sustaining energy for a single quarter, let along back-to-backs against a good team.

Then the Bulls come back home for a couple of challenging games against Golden State and Boston this weekend, with the Lakers following them into the UC next Tuesday.

If the Bulls are 7-16 after the Lakers game, a change might be inevitable. But that date is still a week away.
Rose: "I want to be that guy. I want to be the reason why the Bulls are back to what they were [during the Michael Jordan era]."

Vinny's still here? Whoa, Bulls management must really hate

Rosenblog

You mean he hasn’t been fired yet after that embarrassment against the 1-19 Nets on Tuesday night?

Which followed that humiliation against Raptors?

Which followed that failure against the Cavaliers?

Look, if the Nets can fire their coach after 16 straight losses, why can’t the Bulls fire their coach after losing to the team that had lost those 16 straight games? I’ll hang up and listen for the Bulls’ death spiral.

This wouldn't happen if Gar Forman were alive.

So today and apparently forever with this joke of a coaching situation, we have Vinny Del Negro’s four-point play: LeBron James dances during a timeout, Jarrett Jack ties his shoe while holding the ball without the Bulls even noticing, the Bulls blowing a home game to the worst team in the league, and finally, Bulls management’s embarrassingly high tolerance for embarrassment.
