The final chapter of the unlikely story of Scottie Pippen's playing career will essentially come to fruition on Friday when the Bulls legend is inducted in to the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame as a member of its Class of 2010.
Pippen, the youngest of 12 children from tiny Hamburg, Arkansas, received minimal interest from local colleges as a high school player. He was given a chance by Don Dyer at Central Arkansas, a nearby NAIA school, to talk on as the team's manager. When he arrived in Conway, he was an undersized point guard, but he promptly grew six inches his first year and a star was born not long after. It was in college, Pippen said on Friday speaking from the Hall of Fame, when he realized what he might be capable of doing.
He really deserves this!
