Rose had been transformed from a humble rookie eager to learn to a savvy veteran who knew how good he was and what he needed to do to improve.
[...]
That much was obvious Tuesday when I asked him what his main goal was.
''I just want to be the best at my position,'' he said, ''just compete every time I go out there and win games.''
The best at his position? For a point guard in the NBA, there can be no loftier goal when the competition includes Tony Parker, Deron Williams and Chris Paul.
Honestly, I thought making the All-Star team would be as high as Rose would be willing to go publicly.
''That's one of my goals,'' he said. ''Hopefully, I can achieve it.''
It is good to set high goal. Even better when the goals getting reached.
