ESPN Story

X-rays taken at the arena showed no structural damage, Rose went for an MRI and was unavailable for comment.

"He had X-Rays here at the United Center and was examined by our doctors from Rush," trainer Fred Tedeschi said. "And he was pretty sore and stiff. Couldn't finish the game. So, given what's coming up this weekend we decided to get an MRI on him, and he's over at Rush Medical Center getting that right now. We won't know the results until later on [Wednesday night]. Anything beyond that we don't know. We're just getting a precautionary MRI."

The Magic went on a 9-0 run immediately after Rose left and went on to a 41-17 lead after one quarter. They coasted to a 107-87 win.

Rose retreated to the locker room, where initial X-rays were negative. Athletic trainer Fred Tedeschi said the team still hasn't ruled out a fracture completely but that it looks unlikely.

Good that a fracture is unlikely. It will be tough if Bulls must play without him.
Rose: "I want to be that guy. I want to be the reason why the Bulls are back to what they were [during the Michael Jordan era]."

ESPN Insider Rumors

X-rays taken were negative.

According to Ken Berger of CBS Sports, "Rose's MRI showed no significant damage, Bulls say. He'll make the trip to Dallas and will be re-evaluated Saturday."

So no long-term break seems likely for Rose, which is good news for the Bulls.

Good news.

Rose hopeful for All-Star Weekend

Postby bullsger on Fri Feb 12, 2010 12:06 am

By KC Johnson (Chicago Tribune)

As if traveling with a sore right hip isn't painful enough, Derrick Rose's flight to NBA All-Star weekend was delayed Thursday because of the snowy weather that rocked the Dallas area.

Otherwise, mostly good news arrived for Rose, who did make it there and received more treatment after falling hard to the United Center court on Magic center Dwight Howard's foul in Wednesday's loss.

The Bulls announced the MRI performed late Wednesday showed "no significant injury" to Rose's right hip or lower back. X-rays taken earlier Wednesday night also were negative.

Though no definitive decision on Rose's status for the weekend's festivities has been made, two people who talked to Rose said the second-year guard, while still sore, is improving. Bulls team physician Brian Cole is scheduled to re-examine Rose on Saturday in Dallas.

Rose, who left Wednesday's game, is scheduled to defend his Skills Challenge title Saturday night and then become the first Bull since Michael Jordan in 1998 to play in the All-Star Game.

"I'm hopeful he can play," Bulls athletic trainer Fred Tedeschi said late Wednesday.
Rose: "I want to be that guy. I want to be the reason why the Bulls are back to what they were [during the Michael Jordan era]."
