Not a rumor: But Stoudemire perhaps available

Given Phoenix's lackluster play of late, CBSSports.com has learned that the organization might now be open to considering a much bigger deal -- one involving Stoudemire.

[...]

Stoudemire has made no attempt to hide his frustration with the 180-degree change in offensive approach from D'Antoni to Terry Porter, who has had little choice but to run the offense through O'Neal in the post. As the high pick-and-roll man with Nash in the D'Antoni system, Stoudemire put up massive numbers last season -- his second full year since returning from microfracture surgery -- averaging 25.2 points and 9.1 rebounds while shooting 59 percent.

I don't really think that is a big possibilty for the Bulls, but who knows.

I think that Rose and Stoudemire would be a good pair to build around. Let us dream about it.
Rose: "I want to be that guy. I want to be the reason why the Bulls are back to what they were [during the Michael Jordan era]."

If the Bulls are interested, then they really can trade anyone but Rose. And I think that would be said if talks happen.

I would love to see the Bulls go after him. While it is a long shot, I've come up with several scenarios that might be able to persuade Kerr (who is friends with Pax and Vinny (seeing as Vinny was also with the Suns front office for so long)) to go ahead and give him up.

Trade #1

http://games.espn.go.com/nba/features/t ... &te=&cash=

http://www.realgm.com/src_checktrade.ph ... id=4951376

Bulls give up the numbers in every category, but they get two guys who will likely see their numbers rise with the Bulls. Amare is that low post presence who can also hit the jumper while Barbosa is like Gordon who does the intangibles better, but doesn't put up quite the same numbers. On the other hand, Kerr wants to improve the defense of the Suns, and as much as I hate to see him go, Nocioni will be huge for the defense of the Suns. They'll at least get someone back for the low post, and I can see Gooden fitting in great there, seeing as how Shaq wants more touches and Gooden doesn't demand as many as Amare does. Ben Gordon would give them a microwave scorer off the bench much like Barbosa, but can put up the points more quickly. With Nash there Gordon likely will be more willing to allow Nash to handle the ball instead of trying to do too much himself.

Trade #2

http://games.espn.go.com/nba/features/t ... &te=&cash=

http://www.realgm.com/src_checktrade.ph ... id=4951398

This one is a pretty big one, it involves 8 players total, so there's a chance that it wouldn't be able to go down, but who really knows, I've seen far crazier. Bulls get Amare, benefits obvious there. They also pick up Robin Lopez, who would increase the post defense of the Bulls by an insane amount as well as possibly growing into a solid center. Also, getting Grant Hill would get the Bulls a smart defender who can put the ball in the hoop and give some great veteran leadership, something that some of these players really seem to need. The Suns, on the other hand get the benefit from the stats on this one once again, getting a great wing defender in Thabo who also may be able to be more on offense with Nash trying to get him to play better on that end. They also get Joakim Noah, who can block shots and rebound the ball. Tyrus Thomas gives them a lot of what Noah gives them, but with more and more versatile offense. Ben Gordon, of course, is a microwave scorer and an expiring contract for them, and Andres Nocioni really toughens up their defense and is that good offensive player as well.

Trade #3

http://games.espn.go.com/nba/features/t ... &te=&cash=

http://www.realgm.com/src_checktrade.ph ... id=4951405

I go from the one involving the most players to the one involving the fewest players. This one is pretty much straight up Nocioni and Gooden for Amare. The Suns get the benefit of the stats on this one, but I have a feeling they'll either want Asik or a first round pick thrown in on this one. If so, I'd be willing to give it if I were Pax. Basically, the Suns get the benefits I talked about earlier from Gooden (no real change in defense, someone who demands fewer touches on offense), and Nocioni as well (who, if you haven't guessed yet, is someone who I feel the Suns would demand as part of a trade involving Amare). The Bulls, of course, get a superstar big man in Amare.

Trade #4

http://www.realgm.com/src_checktrade.ph ... id=4951414

This is yet another trade where the Bulls give up the numbers, but again, when you're trading for a star player you have to do that. The Bulls, of course get Amare while the Suns get Joakim Noah as a replacement big man, who can also play his more natural position of power forward on the Suns. They also get a microwave scorer in Ben Gordon, and of course the millions of things that Nocioni brings to the table. This is another one where I wonder if the Bulls might have to throw in a draft pick (likely a second rounder for this one), or possibly another player like Asik.

These are the ones that I have so far, I'm sure there's a whole lot more that can be done. I actually came up with a 12 player trade, but I think that's a bit over the top.

I would like this three trades. Everyone of this trades can help the Bulls.

This would be a really good thing to get Stoudemire to the Bulls.

I agree, the big problem is trying to get one the Suns would do too though.

Kerr in previous weeks was adamant that he would not consider a trade involving Stoudemire, but it seems that things are coming unglued far too quickly in Phoenix, and the Suns are at least listening to offers. The belief is the ideal offer would return young talent, still on their rookie deal, some ending contracts, and future draft picks. The team in the best position to make a play for Stoudemire could be the Chicago Bulls that could send Phoenix players they initially coveted in the draft process such as Joakim Noah and Tyrus Thomas. The Bulls also have the $7.1 million ending contract of Drew Gooden which would be attractive as the Suns try to get under the NBA luxury tax for next season. Add a first round draft pick to the equation and not only does such a deal work under the cap, it might also solve a number of teams problems going forward. The Blazers, HEAT and Raptors are all likely candidates for Amar'e if indeed he is made available.

Can Thomas and Stoudemire play together? Why not try a deal with Thomas not involved? Give them something different. Something unexpected.
