I gotta go with Dirk. His defense is still more improved, his team has the best record in the entire league, and he's the only superstar on his team.

Arenas I'd put in second, as he's been amazing as well, but he has Butler and Jamison to help him out. In third I'd put Nash, but he has Marion, Stat, Diaw, and Barbosa among others who have brought the team to where they are. Honorable mention to Kobe Bryant, but the Lakers showed early on how good they can still be without him, which by definition takes the award from him.

If your gonna say Nash isn't MVP because he has a lot of help than you can't say Dirk is the MVP so far. He also has another all-star on his team, not to mention Jason Terry. He also has 2 centers to guard the opposing teams best post player. So far to me Arenas and Kobe have been MVP. They are leading their teams farther than expected (although I did say the Lakers would winning at this pace). Arenas is doing exactly what Kobe did last year and is finally getting the attention he deserves. Kobe is scoring 29 PPG on 19 shots a game which is crazy. Kobe and Arenas are also the only two players in the league averaging about 30 PPG, 5 BPG, 5 APG, and 1+ SPG.

Kobe. no1 has done more with less. his teammates are slowly making a name for themselves, but why? b/c the guy makes his teammates better. he makes them relevant. period. they robbed him of it last year, they'll do it again this year.

of course Dirk is going to look good when he's never been on a team that wasnt stacked. the dood might win the award but he is straight up NOT the most valuable player in this league. just a really good player on a really good team.

Nash? you want to further disgrace the award by giving this guy 3 straight? :man10: so yeah, the guy makes his teammates better. isnt that what a PG is supposed to do? why not give the award to a PG every year? Kidd never got one for doing more. John Stockton never got one. Gary Payton never got one. Isiah Thomas never got one. Steve Nash has 2. :man10:

But right now, I still say Dirk. Dallas got off to a slow start, but picked up, and eventually went on two 10 plus game winning streaks. Best player on the best team in the league. Behind Dirk I'll put Kobe, then Nash, then Arenas.

Nash would be nothing without the high screen and roll.

If Nash wins the award, they should change the name of the award to MVPO. Most Valuable Player OFFENSIVELY. How can you give the award to a guy who plays defense at a junior varsity level? Dirk isn't exactly a great defender, but not bad enough to be considered a liability(although if a team did have 2 good post players, he would be). Kobe and Arenas are the only 2 out of the 4 everybody seems to be discussing that play lockdown defense.
